Parents Teachers Council

As the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme has grown extensively, the time has now come to review and reorganise the role and function of the PTC so as to develop it as an institution to partner the Samiti in the development of the Vidyalaya. Such a council helps in a progressive decline of grievances besides strengthening the institution as an important and responsible stake holder. As the first step, the nomenclature of PTA has been changed to Parents Teachers Council (PTC). The composition of PTC is as follows :

•   Principal of the Vidyalaya — Chairman
•   15 Representatives, to be nominated by the General Body of parents in proportion to the sections in the Vidyalaya with a female-male ratio in proportionate strength of boys and girls.
•   Five teacher representatives (minimum of two female staff to be nominated by Principal).
•   Vice Principal of the Vidyalaya will function as Member Secretary.

 The Regional Deputy Commissioners are to ensure that General body meetings are organised atleast twice a year. Each Assistant Commissioner is responsible for 10-12 Vidyalayas in his /her cluster. The Assistant Commissioner must participate in hte first meeting of the PTC to explain to the members about the aims, objectives and responsibilities of the PTC.
