In accordance with the New Education Policy of 1986, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for each District was established during the year 1987 in the rural areas of the country.
Later, the Ministry of Human Development, Government of India has approved the opening of 20 additional Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the districts having large concentration of SC and ST population.
Accordingly this JNV was established in 2009 as an additional one for the district of Khammam (as JNV Khammam-II) in Telangana region (in undivided Andhra Pradesh) and after the bifurcation of the State into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 7 Mandals were merged from Telangana's Khammam district into Andhra Pradesh in 2014. In this process, the area in which this JNV is located was merged with East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and the name of this JNV was changed from JNV Khammam-II to JNV East Godavari-II in 2015.
Again in April 2022, districts were re-organised in Andhra Pradesh by creating 13 new districts. The area in which this JNV is located came under the juridisction of Alluri Sitharama Raju district. So from 4th April 2022, this JNV was again re-christened as JNV Alluri Sitharama Raju. This is all about our journey from JNV Khammam-II to JNV East Godavarai-II to JNV Alluri Sitharama Raju.
This JNV is located at the border of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states while Chhattisgarh and Odisha state borders are also nearby. It is situated at around 9 KMs away from the nearest town Bhadrachalam and at a distance of around 285 KMs away from the district's headquarter Paderu. The Vidyalaya is possessing required infrastructure. This JNV is in the calm and serene environment with the provision for academic atmosphere.
