The 3rd November 2011 was the most auspicous day when the permanent site building of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Tamenglong was inaugurated by Honorable Union Home Minister Shri P Chidambaram in the presence of Honorable Chief Minister Shri O Ibobi Singh Till then, it had been at ADC, Tamenglong under temporary roofs since its inception in 1992. The school campus covers around 30 acres of forested hill side with buildings connected by steep paths offering spectacular views at every turn. These include the Academic buildings , hostel and staff quarters. the academic building houses several class room, a computer lab. and a Samsung Smart class room. The school is located at about 1580m feet.  To provide good quality, modern education - including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education- to the talented children pre dominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family's socil economic conditions this is the aim of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The National Policy on Education- 1986 envisaged the settling up of residential Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in every District that could bring out the best of roral talent. And attempt has been made to provide quality education in a residential set up ( co- educational and from class VI to XII ). There are approximately 598 JNVs across India. The Motto of the school is " Come to learn, go to serve".  The NVS conducts entrance test as JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test)  every year, for class VI. Forms are made to the Public available on the months of July, August date 11 , 80 Students intake) This year more than 30 lakh students appeared in JNVST all over India. JNV Tamenglong has two streams - Science and Humanities. Various Co- curricular activities, Science day, Science Exhibitions and examination PISA organize to promote a research mind set and the all round development of the child.
