The Foundation Stone for Navodaya Vidyalaya, Krishnapuram, Nellore was laid down on 26th Feb, 1988 by Hon'ble Smt. Kumdben Joshi, Governor, Andhra pradesh. The school campus covers around 57.5 acres of area on the side of 565 National Highway. The school started in the temporary sheds alongwith 30acres of land provided by Sri.M.Rajamohan Reddy, Ex-MP of Ongole. The surroundings of the campus is with hillocks and luxurious greenary. The permanent buildings were inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy on 30.08.1991.  School building includes the beautiful academic block, Multipurpose Hall, workshops, Administrative building, science labs and Samsung Smart room 1&2, Multimedia lab, Library, Gym, Quarters for all the staff members, residential hostels for all the students, Seperate Dining halls for Boys & Girls, plenty of play fiedls.   

Nellore had been under the rule of Cholas, Pallavas, pandyas, Maurya Dynasty, Kharavela of Chedi dynasty, Satavahanas, Kakatiyas, Eastern Gangas of Kalinga Empire, Vijayanagara Empire, Arcot Nawabs and other dynasties. The District had an important role in the emergence of the Telugu language and the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Potti Sriramulu, who fasted until death for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, hailed from Nellore. Hence, the Nellore district  is renamed as "Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore". In nellore district harbours many scientific, religious and ecological important places like Satish Dhawan Space Research Centre (ISRO), Pulikat salt lake, Sri Talapakagiri Ranganadha swamy temple, Krishnapatnam port, Udayagiri Durgh.
