The National Policy of Education launched in 1986 envisaged that in order to achieve national integration it was necessary to orient the education of boys and girls towards integration at an early age. To achieve this goal Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti an autonomous organization was set up as a society under the societies registration act in the Ministry of Human resource Development (Department of School Education& literary) Government of India to establish and run residential schools on an average of one in each District of the Country.
