The Year 1993 was the most auspicious year when the foundation stone of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tawang at NEC Farm took place in midst of immense beautiful Himalayan range.The school was established in November1994 at non permanent site at NEC Farm, Tawang. The school was shifted to permanent site in June,2012. The school campus covers around 18.611 acres of forested hillside with its buildings connected by steep and windy paths and offering spectacular views at every turn. These buildings include the beautiful old Quad, the modern state of art infrastructure and the newly-refurbished student hostels and staff houses. The academic buildings including several classrooms are assited by a computer network and Samsung smart lab. The school is endowed with Atal Tinkering Lab assisting students for their all round development.The widespread use of email and an intranet system shrinks the distances and keeps staff, students and administration in quick and easy contact with one another. The Vidyalaya is surrounded by the grove of pine trees on the main Tezpur- Tawang Highway (NH-13), at Gorpdung,Tawang. The school is located on the lap of exotic valley near Sera Jey Jamyang choekhorling Monastery, at village Gorpdung, at a height of about 10000 feet above the sea level.
