The year 1987 saw the beginning of a young & promising National level instituition at reckong Peo in the district of Kinnaur(HP). The vidyalaya is situated in an picturisque environment surrounded by Snow Clad mountains.it is situated at an average altitude of 8000ft above sea level. The vidyalaya falls under "Hard Station category" and is sub categorised as "Extreme Winter Zone Vidyalaya". It is 245 Km away from Shimla and is well connected by Road only. Since it is situated in the district headquarter ie. Reckong Peo hence the allotted land area is very low ie 15.10 Bigah. At present it is being run on the permanent site, in which Academic Block, 3 dormitories and 6 Type-III staff quarters are completed and other construction of buildings is work in progess... kinnaur is the land of Gods..People have deep faiths & are God fearing..This is also the land of several Hydro Projects..over the years this vidyalaya has produced a good range of Alumni..
