1. Comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the students to create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth and to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation.

2. In JNVs where NCC facilities are available, a suitable environment was created to motivate the students to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

3. Proper safety precautions were taken while sending the cadets to attend various NCC Camps. NCC Day will be celebrated on 4th Sunday of November every year.

4. All the efforts are made to begin NCC for both boys and girls in consultation with NCC directorate of the concerned district.

5. All the efforts were made to train the cadets by CTO/ANO so that more no. of students can participate in republic day parade.

6. Total 2350 cadets @ 1205 (Junior Division) and 1145 (Junior Wing), were enrolled during 2021-22. Total 32 trained ANOs are at present available in the Region to carry out the NCC activities in JNVs.

As per NVS guidelines Museum Corner is established in all JNVs of the Region. The allotment of Fund of Rs 10,000/- every year is being utilize for upgrading the museum corner. At this juncture it is pertinent to mentioned that many JNVs have equipped their museum corner with rare and antique items donated by students including specimens from district museum .

Navodaya students are fortunate to be a part of this renowned system through which they are exposed to various avenues other than academic excellence . The infra structural facilities such as established Laboratories , Computer and Internet accessibility coupled with knowledgeable and dedicated teaching faculty enhances their academic excellence .

The Sports and Games facilities available in the campus and the planned physical activities make them fit and enable them to achieve laurels in the National arena which is slowly moving towards International arena . Their participation in National level exhibitions, Art & Cultural Mela , Olympiads and other competitions enable them to bring out their innate talents and helps them in their overall development.

Their systematic life style during their stay at JNV helps them a long way even after their leaving the system to lead a contended and disciplined life and be a proud citizen of the country.

Total 67 JNVs out of 84 have Multi Gym in their respective JNVs under Patna Region.

Adolescence Education Program (AEP) launched with the UNFPA support under Country Program -8 (CP-8) has been implemented by 3 National Agencies: National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). The AEP has been the extended version of the Project on “Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) in Schools” As an experimental project in 2004. In 2005 the “Project on ARSH in schools” was converted into Adolescent Education Program (AEP) expending its coverage as well as objectives. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, which is the executing agency, transferred the AEP along with the other Quality Improvement in Schools (QIS) schemes to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) effective April, 2006. Hence, NCERT is the coordinating agency for AEP.

Adolescence Education Programme Mandatory School-Based Activities to be Organized by Nodal Teachers and Peer Educators in Addition to 23 Hours Class Room Transaction by Teachers

Rationale: Peer Educators orientation programme was conceptualised in order to engage young people meaningfully in the Adolescence Education Programme (AEP). However, it has been observed that all the schools are not able to engage the peer educators to reach out to other students and further improve the teaching-learning environment in their schools.

After the orientation of peer educators, two sets of activities are suggested for every school that may help in mainstreaming the concerns of Adolescence Education Programme in the school curriculum. These include organisation of theme-based assemblies and activities for classes 8th to 11th. Certain reference documents have also been suggested to facilitate organization of these activities. Peer educators and nodal teachers are also encouraged to look up other resources, such as, refer to other relevant books, newspapers, access internet, to further enhance their knowledge on these issues and also share it with other school students. AEP now supports an Adolescence Resource Centre (ARC) that is a virtual storehouse of several interesting resources including, manuals, teaching learning videos, pictures, archived discussions on educational themes. Please log on to www.aeparc.org to access different resources related to AEP and submit regular quarterly school based activity reports by using school ID and pass word. The key reference documents mentioned in these guidelines, i.e. NCERT publications on Adolescence Education in Schools: A package of basic materials, Manual (Training and Resource Materials on AEP), a set of four books written by Kamla Bhasin on adolescence, can be accessed from the website.

Guidelines for organising activities:

1. Integrating AEP themes in the Morning Assembly-All schools have the provision of a morning assembly.It is suggested that once in every month, AEP theme-based assembly is organized in every school participating in the AEP. Besides the themes, certain sub-topics have also been suggested to enable the nodal teacher and peer educators to prepare for the morning assembly. The peer educators-teacher team could also include additional sub-topics that are relevant for their school. Peer educators may also want to share certain experiences in the assembly that are relevant to the theme of the month. Most importantly, it is left to the imagination of the peer educators to organize this morning assembly with the help of their teachers. Given the time constraint during the morning assembly, it is expected that inclusion of a particular theme in the assembly will not take more than 7-10 minutes. In order to have enhanced participation of students, the themes introduced in the morning assembly may be followed by school based activities on the same day. The trained nodal teacher may inform and consult Principal for inclusion of themes in the school time table, so that peer educators and teachers know ahead of time the day on which a particular theme has to be included in the morning assembly and can prepare for it.

2. Organizing theme-based activities in the school-As a follow up of addressing a particular theme in the morning assembly, it will be important to organise relevant activities that further engage the students and help them in internalising the key learning. A set of theme-based activities and basic reference documents have been suggested in the table above. Teachers’ especially nodal teachers will have to take the lead in organising these activities and peer educators can play an important role in setting up the activity. For example, make posters that announce these activities (date, time and themes) and display them in different parts of the school to encourage participation, set up a classroom or the conference room for organising debates or poster making etc. Suggested guidelines have been provided. Teachers may need to provide more detailed and specific information ahead of time so that all students know about the event and can prepare to participate in it. Announcing a particular activity ahead of time and providing necessary guidelines for participation will encourage student participation in large numbers. At the end, it is essential to synthesise learning and key take home messages.

1. NSS(National Service Scheme) is a noble experiment in academic expansion which inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among the students and teachers through sustained community interactions. By implementing NSS activities in our JNVs, our vidyalayas got closer to the society and it gave an extension dimension to the higher education system as well oriented the student youth to community service while they are studying.

2. CBSE, New Delhi vide its circular No. 25/20076 dated 30.11.2006 has requested to initiate action for starting a unit of NSS in JNVs. Nominating one NSS programme Officer for NSS unit of JNV who is willing to carryout the programme by way of development of his/her perception about the community. Total 50 volunteers from class IX & XI will be identified and enrolled as volunteers . This will facilitate their skill to perform certain jobs and develop himself/herself as a qualitative leader, organizer and development of his/her personality as a whole. Every JNV where NSS activities are carried out will adopt one village for this purpose

2. Total 425 volunteers in 7 JNVs were enrolled during 2016-17 under the supervision of seven teacher in charge of this activity in JNVs.

The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) principally provides assistance

for the rehabilitation of child victims of different kinds of societal violence, promotes communal harmony and national integration either independently or through state governments or NGOs, etc., and confers Awards on Individuals and Organizations for their outstanding contribution towards fosters communal harmony & strengthening national integration. The Foundation is actively networking & partnering with concerned State Governments, different ministries and departments, educational institutions, NGOs and voluntary organizations etc. to effectively implement its schemes.

India free from communal and all other forms of violence where all citizens especially children & youth live together in peace & harmony.

Promoting Communal Harmony, Strengthening National Integration and Fostering Unity in Diversity through collaborative social action, awareness programs, reaching out to the victims of violence especially children, encouraging interfaith dialogue for India’s Shared Security, Peace & Prosperity.

Under NFCH, various activities are conducted for students of JNVs at JNV level , Cluster Level, Regional Level and National Level. Awards (cash Prize) and Certificates are issued to the meritorious students at each level. The list of Regional & Cluster level achievers in respect of Patna Region are given below:

Swachhata campaign in all the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have been carried out. Special Committee constituted at Cluster Level assessed the implementation of Swachhata in 72 items under major 6 heads of Swachhata activities. Accordingly, following 6 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas among 595 have been selected as best JNVs in implementing SwachhataAbhiyan :

Pestalozzi International Village, a charity in England offers International Baccalaureate Diploma at Hastings College of Art & Technology for NVS students as scholarship. As on date we have sent 33 students of JNVs to England under this programme, who are getting modern and quality education, mostly free of cost by getting scholarships to embark on careers in different professions in countries like Germany, France, Britain, Spain, America etc.

National Talent Search Scheme, started in the year 1963, is a flagship programme/initiative of NCERT. The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level scholarship program (Exam), conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training to recognize and nurture talented students across India. The qualified students are extended financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship for the entire academic career. The NTSE scholar is always recognized as an extra ordinary student because the NTSE itself is widely regarded as the most prestigious examination at high school level in India. Children appearing in Class X are eligible to appear for the exam.

During 2016-17, the number of students who participated at State level and National level of NTSE were 11086 and 640 respectively.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVYP) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to attract exceptional & highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

The objective of the program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.

The main objective of Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme is to provide quality education to the children predominantly from rural areas. NVS has been making a series of efforts for the quality improvement in the vidyalayas, based on abilities and potential of the children for creativity, innovation, research, questioning, critical thinking and analysis. It is in this context that there is a need to organize Regional Science Congress with exhaustive activities to inculcate scientific temper and promote scientific talent amongst the students of JNVs.

The objectives and methodologies of the organization of Regional Level Science Congress are indicated below:

Objectives of the Programme

1. To provide a forum for young talented students to arouse and pursue their natural curiosity and to quench their thirst for creativity by watching and doing experiments.
2. To help students meet eminent scientists and derive inspiration through close interactions with them.
3. To nurture and nourish creativity and innovativeness by helping them giving knowledge and solve problems by relating their learning process to physical and social environment around them.
4. To promote an opportunity to bright students to go beyond the limits of the school, to visit labs of national and international standards to further stimulate their temperament and help them

‘Seema Darshan’ is a unique initiative being taken up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in which school children are visiting the border areas of our country and present before our soldiers and troops an array of performances showcasing the tradition and culture of our country through traditional songs and dances. Child artists would demonstrate to the jawans how they are preserving and taking forward the cultural legacy of that country for which the armed forces are constantly on the vigil and also protecting and guarding its borders. This kind of programme will not only inspire children but also boost the morale of our soldiers on this Republic Day.

The main objective of the programme is to provide the students with a first-hand experience of the prevailing security environment in the border areas. The other objectives are to foster patriotism and nationalism among the students and to provide an opportunity for the children to experience the border environment.

With a view to strengthening the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student community to know about the working of Parliament, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in consultation with NVS introduced the scheme of National Youth Parliament competition in JNVs.

Youth parliament has a special importance in developing an insight in the young students. Thus, the purpose of having Youth Parliament in NVS is:

1. To make students understand the parliamentary procedure.

2. To develop in students an insight into the working of parliament

3. To make students consider public issues and form their opinion on them.

4. To train students in the technique of group discussions.

5. To develop in them respect and tolerance for the views of others, respect for rules, and to train them in group behaviour.

6. To make students aware of various problems being faced by our society and the country.

7. To develop in students the qualities of leadership.

8. To make students understand the common man’s point of view and express it in an articulated manner.

Regional Office will identify FOUR New Vidyalayas every year in addition to the FOUR already identified Vidyalayas for the conduct of Youth Parliament competitions in the region every year. These identified 8 Vidyalayas are to conduct Youth Parliament competition for two continuous years in their respective Vidyalayas.

Basing on the judgment of a jury of judges at Vidyalaya level one best team will be identified at Regional level for competing at National Level. The best performed Vidyalaya at National Level competition will get an opportunity to witness the proceeding of the Parliament sessions. The best performers of the identified 1rogramme1 at both Regional & Nationals Levels will get Trophies and Mementoes from the Ministry of Parliamentary affairs.

For conduct of 24th Youth Parliament Competition - 2022-23, following JNVs have been identified:

One of the aims of Navodaya Vidyalyas i.e. providing quality education is ensured through Art in Education Programme by linking community and the school. Art in Education Programme is being introduced in NVS w.e.f. 1993. Different facets of Traditional and Contemporary Arts of Community are introduced as a part of activities. In addition to developing values of national Integration, students are trained and taught different art forms.

• Exploring the community environment, local history, geography and tradition for over all social perspective and preservation of community heritage.

• Providing opportunities through Art in Education for Social and National Development in which Art Education Acts as catalyst.

• Values of National Integration and other Universal Values are inculcated amongst students through Art in Education.

• Different Performing Art traditions, painting styles, crafts and theatre in education work have been taught to students in JNVs.

• Traditional wisdom of our village societies is passed on to the students through songs, folk ballads, art and traditional theatre workshops.

• Eminent personalities from the field of literary, visual, theatre and performing arts have been involved to train the students.

• Renowned educationist and eminent personalities in public life are also associated for shaping leadership qualities.

After training the students through experts for a period of one month, the talents are being exhibited to the public at the 1rogramme level. Selected teams from all the States participate in the Regional Integration Meet which is being organized every year. Approximately around 500 students participate in the regional level, cultural and literary meet called Regional Integration meet. Teams selected from all the eight regions participate in the National Integration Meet, in which cultural and literary activities are given importance. The National Integration Meet offers opportunities for cross cultural exchange to NVS students coming from different corners of India.

During this year 2022-23 the following JNVs of the Region have been identified for the Art in Education Workshop on Land River and People and the trained students showcased their talents in the Regional Cultural Meet conducted at JNV Aurangabad on 05^{th & 6th} Jan’2023.
