About JNV Wokha
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chukitong District Wokha Nagaland is located at Chukitong town at a distance of 85 km from its capital town Kohima. The place is surrounded by lofty hills and forests. the pastoral beauty of this place is worth-seeing and can mesmerize any layman also.
There is a particular reason (story) behind naming this town and district so. Very famous fruit trees 'CHIKITI"(Amla) are found in large number in the locality and the adjacent villages. As the 'BASTI' is situated in this area, the place is called 'Chukitong'.
There is a myth behind naming the district 'Wokha' also. The word 'Wokha' in Lotha traditional tribe means counting. Once, the nearby farmers assembled at one place and discuss about same matter. They were ten in numbers are like this (1) Ekha (2) Eni (3) Ethum (4) Mazui (5) Mungo (6) Tirok (7) Tieeng (8) Teesa (9) Tokvui and (10) Taro. They all stayed there and developed one Basti which was later on come to be known as 'WOKHA'.
