Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Megdong is located in Megdong village which is  12 km away from District Head Quarter Daporijo.JNV Megdong is relatively a plain area stretched over 13.45 acres on the right bank of Subansiri River. It is just 100 to 15o meters away from the river Bank of Subansiri. Being beautifully located amidst of valley it is known for its adorable scenic beauty. It is also exactly  opposite to Dumporijo which is a bigger rural agglomeration  with the river Subansiri flowing in  between which is not navigable except winters.

JNV Megdong can be reached through two routes with the final destination as Daporijo . The first one which is considered to be more accessible is from Itanagar which stretches for about 280 km   taking roughly about 12 hours to reach Vidyalaya. The other route is from Shilapathar Assam which is also 220 km away again taking roughly the same time.  The means of conveyance in both routes are Tata Sumo and Bus with more frequency of Tata sumo. The difference being that Itanagar route journey starts in morning and you reach the Vidyalaya by evening and in Shilapathar route journey starts in afternoon and you reach by morning.
