नामांकन नीति
जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय में प्रवेश सीबीएसई द्वारा डिजाइन और आयोजित एक चयन परीक्षा के आधार पर किया जाता है। परीक्षा को जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय चयन परीक्षा (JNVST) कहा जाता है। यह गैर-मौखिक प्रकृति का है, वर्ग-तटस्थ है और यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है कि ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के प्रतिभाशाली बच्चे बिना किसी नुकसान का सामना किए प्रतिस्पर्धा करने में सक्षम हों। यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए विशेष ध्यान रखा जाता है कि दूर-दराज के क्षेत्रों के बच्चों को बिना किसी कठिनाई के प्रवेश पत्र निःशुल्क प्राप्त हों। दूरदर्शन, आकाशवाणी, स्थानीय समाचार पत्रों, पैम्फलेटों, विद्यालय वेबसाइटों के माध्यम से और जिले के स्थानीय स्कूलों में नवोदय विद्यालयों के प्रधानाचार्यों और शिक्षकों के दौरे के माध्यम से पर्याप्त प्रचार किया जाता है।
परीक्षा की पात्रता शर्तें और संरचना

सभी उम्मीदवारों के लिए
केवल उस जिले के उम्मीदवार जहां जवाहर नवोदय विद्यालय खोला गया है, प्रवेश के लिए आवेदन करने के पात्र हैं। हालांकि, जिस जिले में जेएनवी खोला गया है और बाद की तारीख में विभाजित किया गया है, जिले की पुरानी सीमाओं को जेएनवी में प्रवेश के लिए पात्रता के उद्देश्य से माना जाता है। यह उन मामलों पर लागू होता है जहां नए विभक्त जिले में अभी तक नया विद्यालय शुरू नहीं किया गया है। चयन परीक्षा के लिए उपस्थित होने वाले उम्मीदवारों को सरकारी / सरकारी सहायता प्राप्त, अन्य मान्यता प्राप्त स्कूल या राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विद्यालयी शिक्षा संस्थान के 'बी' सर्टिफिकेट योग्यता पाठ्यक्रम में पूरे शैक्षणिक सत्र के लिए कक्षा-वी में पढ़ना चाहिए, उसी जिले में जहां वह / वह प्रवेश चाहती है। एक स्कूल को मान्यता प्राप्त माना जाएगा यदि इसे सरकार द्वारा या सरकार की ओर से अधिकृत किसी अन्य एजेंसी द्वारा घोषित किया जाता है। जिन स्कूलों में छात्रों ने नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ ओपन स्कूलिंग के तहत 'बी' सर्टिफिकेट प्राप्त किया है, उनके पास एनआईओएस की मान्यता होनी चाहिए। एक उम्मीदवार को कक्षा-वी को सफलतापूर्वक पूरा करना होगा। कक्षा VI में वास्तविक प्रवेश इन शर्तों के अधीन होगा। प्रवेश पाने के इच्छुक उम्मीदवार की आयु 9 से 13 वर्ष के बीच होनी चाहिए। यह अनुसूचित जाति (एससी) और अनुसूचित जनजाति (एसटी) से संबंधित सभी श्रेणियों के उम्मीदवारों पर लागू होता है। ग्रामीण कोटे से प्रवेश का दावा करने वाले उम्मीदवार को सरकार / सरकार से कक्षा- III, IV और V का अध्ययन और उत्तीर्ण होना चाहिए। सहायता प्राप्त/मान्यता प्राप्त स्कूल ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में स्थित एक स्कूल में प्रत्येक वर्ष एक पूर्ण शैक्षणिक सत्र खर्च करते हैं। एक उम्मीदवार जिसने शहरी क्षेत्र में स्थित स्कूल में एक सत्र के एक दिन के लिए भी कक्षा- III, IV या V में से किसी एक में अध्ययन किया है, उसे शहरी क्षेत्र का उम्मीदवार माना जाएगा। शहरी क्षेत्र वे हैं, जिन्हें 2001 की जनगणना या बाद की सरकारी अधिसूचना के माध्यम से इस प्रकार अधिसूचित किया गया है। अन्य सभी क्षेत्रों को ग्रामीण माना जाएगा। एक उम्मीदवार जिसे 30 सितंबर से पहले पदोन्नत नहीं किया गया है और कक्षा-वी में प्रवेश नहीं दिया गया है, वह आवेदन करने के लिए पात्र नहीं है। कोई भी उम्मीदवार किसी भी परिस्थिति में दूसरी बार जेएनवी चयन परीक्षा में बैठने के लिए पात्र नहीं है।
ग्रामीण, अनुसूचित जाति / अनुसूचित जनजाति, लड़कियों और विकलांग बच्चों के लिए आरक्षण
एक जिले में कम से कम 75% सीटें ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों से चयनित उम्मीदवारों द्वारा भरी जाएंगी और शेष सीटें जिले के शहरी क्षेत्रों से भरी जाएंगी। जिले में अनुसूचित जाति और अनुसूचित जनजाति के उम्मीदवारों के लिए उनकी जनसंख्या के अनुपात में सीटों के आरक्षण का प्रावधान है लेकिन राष्ट्रीय औसत से कम नहीं है 1/3 सीटें छात्राओं के लिए आरक्षित हैं। विकलांग बच्चों (अर्थात अस्थि विकलांग, श्रवण बाधित और दृष्टि विकलांग) के लिए 3% सीटों के आरक्षण का प्रावधान है।
परीक्षण की संरचना
परीक्षा का माध्यम (जेएनवीएसटी) अधिसूचित 21 भाषाओं में से किसी भी भाषा में होगा।

In order to optimally utilise the infrastructure and staff facilities available in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, vacant seats in Class-IX are filled up through Lateral Entry Test. During the year 2016-17, Lateral Entry Test for Class-IX was conducted in 550 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Eligibility Conditions
To appear in the Selection Test, a candidate has to fulfill the following eligibility conditions :
- Only those candidates who are studying Class VIII during the Academic Session 2018-19 in one of the Govt./Govt. recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning and where admission is sought, are eligible.
- Candidate appearing for the admission test must qualify/ pass Class VIII in the academic session 2018-19 from a Govt./Govt. recognized school in the district where he/she is seeking admission.
- A candidate seeking admission must be born between 01.05.2003 and 30.04.2007 (both days inclusive). This is applicable to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe.
- Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti reserves the right to refer any candidate to a MEDICAL BOARD for confirmation of the age of the candidate, in case any doubt arises about the age on the basis of certificate produced by the candidate before confirmation of admission.
Composition of Test for Class-IX
Admission Test consists of questions of Class-VIII standard in the following subjects.
Selection Test will consist of questions from the subjects of Mathematics, General Science, English and Hindi. Difficulty level of the test paper shall be of Class VIII.

Venue and Date of the Selection Date
Selection Test for admission to Class IX will be conducted on Saturday, the 2nd February 2019 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of concerned district/any other center allotted by NVS.
Reservation
The existing vacant seats in the SC/ST category, as notified, are reserved for the SC/ST students.
LATERAL ENTRY FOR CLASS-XI
Issue of Notification for Admission in Class-XI
The vacant seats available in each JNV is notified every year in the local newspapers by the JNV concerned of that district. The admission in Class–XI is completed by 15th July every year.
Eligibility for Admission in Class-XI
- Students seeking admission in Class–XI should be within the age limit of 14-18 years as on 1st July, of the year of admission.
- The candidate must have passed Class–X from a recognized school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board) of the district where the JNV is located during the academic session of the year of admission.
- The merit list will be prepared as per marks obtained by the applicant in the Class–X Board Exam and the admission will be given as per eligibility of candidate and the seats available in the JNV concerned.
- The candidates must have reasonable competency in English and Hindi.
