The National policy on education- 1986 envisaged establishment of JNVs in each district of the country and they staid to be established to provide education to localize children from rural area which besides other things would include a strong component of culture, including of values, environmental awarded development of the children’s personality and to achieve the objectives of excellence along with equality education in non cognitive areas like ability to emerge as a leader. Thus academic excellence, social cohesion including of human and collective sprit of patriotism and consistent interaction with local community are some of the leaders in the school system in the rural areas.
The NPE-1986 stable with just two experimental school in 1985-86 and has now grown unto 600, as on 31st March 2012, Schools covering almost all the districts.
These Vidyalaya envisaged identifications and development of talented bright and gifted children’s predominantly rural area that may otherwise be derived good education opportunities.
TheOrganization :-
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti an autonomous organization under the Ministry of H.R.D. Dept. of education has the responsibility of implementing and administration the Navodaya Scheme which has formally established in Feb- 1986.
The Samiti has at present 8 Regional Office, for the administration of the Vidyalaya under their Jurisdiction at Bhopal, Hydrabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Pune, Shilong and Chandigarh.
The chairman of the samiti is honourable minister of H.R.D. Govt. of India. The Vice Chairman is the minister of state of education ministery of H.R.D.
The Samiti functions through an Executive committee, associated by the finance commissioner, the academic adviser committee and the construction co-ordination committee
