Commissioner, NVS

Dear All,

I am delighted to note that NVS is leading in the country in providing quality, modern, value, and competency-based education to the children of rural India. CBSE results of NVS are the reflections of brand equity of NVS and this has become possible only due to concerted efforts, dedicated service, and teamwork of all teachers and staff who deserve my heartfelt congratulations. We have to keep the NVS flag always up in all fields and the sky is the limit. COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted not only our normal life but also school functioning. Four months long school closure has caused academic loss and physical & mental stress for the students. To mitigate this, NVS has started delivering online education and other methods to reach out to the children. Although the students are studying at home with different modes, it cannot replace the teaching-learning process carried out at school. Students need academic as well as emotional support from teachers so that their study may not get hampered. To provide such support, Principals must have chalked out learner specific strategies not only for students having devices & internet facility but also for those who don't. We have to be more focused on students who are not able to attend online classes. For such students, JNVs must explore alternative ways to reach out to them either by sending learning packages/assignments by post or through peer learning, connecting with teachers telephonically and encouraging the use of Swayam Prabha TV channels or whatever means developed by JNVs. The Assignments being shared online with the students must also be shared by post or any other feasible means with those students who are not able to attend the online classes. Evaluation of assignments and worksheets should also reach to each student with whatever means it is possible. Creative teachers may also be engaged in connecting with students to explore co- curricular activities at home. Activities like working on projects, conducting home-based experiments, e-reading books, re-writing stories, preparations for Olympiads, NTSE like examinations must be encouraged including regular preparations for PISA. MHRD, NCERT & CBSE has taken many initiatives to cater to the needs of students at home. Alternate academic calendar, Pragyata Guidelines, Manodarpan Guidelines are some of them. I hope Principals and teachers are making the students aware to use these resources and sending printed digital material to each student with possible means available to students.
