Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kasaragod is a fully residential & co-educational school affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi and has classes from VI to XII standard. This Vidyalayas are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education and Government of India. The school  is situated at Periya about 24 km far from Kasaragod. Kasaragod is well known for its historical & tourist places such as Bekal Fort, Anandashram, Nithyananda ashram and so on.The school campus consists of a massive Academic Block, separate dormitories for boys and girls with sufficient capacity, Kitchen, separate dining halls for boys and girls, play grounds and Staff Quarters. All teaching staff including the Principal is comfortably accommodated inside the campus to ensure better monitoring of school activities.

 The school is built on campus of about thirty acres in peaceful green surroundings.Students are allotted to four houses Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik, Udaigiri and each have separate hostels for boys and girls. the colours of these houses being blue,green,red and yellow respectively.The institute has playing fields including: a multiple all-purpose fields, soccer stadium, handball courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, 400 metre track, indoor badminton court and table tennis courts.

     The Students appear for Board Examination in classes X and XII conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). At Plus Two level, the vidyalaya has 2 streams: Science and Commerce. Under Science stream English, Physics and Chemistry are compulsory and Mathematics/Hindi and Biology/Computer Science are Optional Subjects. Under Commerce Stream, English, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics are compulsory and Informatics Practices, Hindi and Mathematics are optional subjects.

 Commendable achievements have been made in academics as well as co-curricular activities. The quality education given enables the children, mostly from rural background, to face the professional entrance examinations and National talent tests and to face life itself as useful and active members of society.
