Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Choppadandi was inaugurated on the 31st of December 1986. Shri O.Ranga Reddy was the founder Principal. The Vidyalaya has its campus on the Sri Ram Sagar Project area – 2 kms from the Choppadandi village. Its sprawling 30 acre campus has a spacious academic block, a multi-Purpose hall, 4 acres of playground with two hundred meter tracks, two spacious dining halls, ten two-storeyed separate dormitories for boys and girls. All regular staff are accommodated in spacious permanent quarters. The vidyalaya also has 4 housemother/housemaster quarters and a guest room. The 4 to 5 decade long massive banyan trees, ganuga, asoka, eucalyptus, tamarind, neem, dursan, teakwood and mango trees add to the beautiful look of the vidyalaya. Since the beginning the vidyalaya has been the seat some of the ablest principals that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have ever seen in history. The vidyalaya has grown from strength to strength under their inspiring leadership.
The vidyalaya receives over 14,000 applications for admission in Class VI (Total seats 80) and almost 1000 for admission in Class IX (seats 5-10) each year. It speaks highly of the reputation the vidyalaya enjoys in the district.
