Jharkhand is one of India’s newest states was carved out of the southern portion of Bihar in 2000. It is located in the northeastern part of the country. Jharkhand is bordered by the states of Bihar to the north, West Bengal to the east, Odisha to the south, Chhattisgarh to the west, and Uttar Pradesh to the northwest. Its capital is Ranchi. The most prominent physical feature of Jharkhand is the Chota Nagpur plateau, part of the vast Deccan plateau that occupies most of peninsular India. Chota Nagpur, actually a series of plateaus, hills, and valleys, covers nearly the entire state and consists primarily of crystalline rocks. Jharkhand is one of the leading states in terms of economic growth. The GSDP growth of the state stood at 10.22 per cent in 2017-18. Jharkhand is one of the richest mineral zones in the world and boasts of 40 per cent and 29 per cent of India's mineral and coal reserves such as coal (27.3 per cent of India’s reserves), iron ore (26 per cent of India’s reserves), copper ore (18.5 per cent of India’s reserves), uranium, mica, bauxite, granite, limestone, silver, graphite, magnetite and dolomite. Jharkhand is the only state in India to produce cooking coal, uranium and pyrite.
DUMKA DISTRICT
Dumka district one of the twenty four districts of Jharkhand state is eastern india and Dumka is the administrative headquarter of the district. This district covers an area of 3716.02 km2 , This district has a population of 1321096
About JNV Dumka
JNV Dumka located in Hansdiha is one of the oldest JNVs under NVS Patna Region. Hansdiha is a large village in Saraiyahat community development block in Dumka District, Jharkhand. This place is also known as Santhal Parganas. 85%-90% of students of JNV Dumka belong to weaker sections of society and having very meagre facilities at their home. Most of the students are first generation learners and their parents socio economic background are below poverty line.
The Vidyalaya campus is divided into parts namely Administrative cum Academic block and Residential block. The Vidyalaya has 1 M.P Hall, 2 well maintained dining halls. It also has 2 playgrounds and a basketball court for students.
JNV being a Residential setup, the students are accommodated in dormitories. There are 4 separate hostel buildings 2 for boys and 2 for girls. One more building for Girls Hostel is under construction. Likewise all Teaching and Non- Teaching staffs are provided with Residential accommodation. The Residential Quarters include 1 Principal quarter, 16 Type III quarter, 12 Type II quarter and 16 Type I quarter.
