YOUTH PARLIAMENT
The youth Parliament is a support organization for young people in India. It was established in July 2002 by social entrepreneur Ishita Choudhary with support from the India habitat Centre, New Delhi. With view to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the students community to know about the working of Parliament. Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in constitution with NVS introduced the scheme of National Youth Parliament competition in NVS. Youth Parliament has a special importance in developing an insight in the young students. Thus, the purpose of having youth Parliament in NVS is :
Regional office will identify 4 new Vidyalays every year in addition to the 4 already identified Vidyalayas for the conduct of youth parliament competitions in the region every year. These 8 identified Vidyalayas are to conduct youth parliament competition for two continues years in their respective Vidyalayas. Based on the judgment of a jury of judges at Vidyalaya level one best team will identified at the regional level to competing at the National level. The best performing Vidyalaya at the National level competition will get an opportunity to witness the proceedings of the parliamentary sessions. The best performers both at the Regional and National level will get trophies and mementoes from the Ministry of parliamentary affairs.
