Education is the eternal foundation of a Nation’s Development, hence it is essential to have effective policies.
Navodaya is a premier institute for school education (from class VI to XII) established all over the country primarily meant for providing state of the art quality educational opportunity to the so far deprived sections in Rural Areas. 75% of the seats in the Vidyalaya are reserved for students from rural background and the rest 25% are selected from urban areas. Other than the number of seats reserved for the SC/ST/OBC category of students, 33% of total seats are reserved for female students and 3% seats are meant for Physically Challenged category of students. We provide admission at different levels viz. VI, IX and XI. Whereas students in class VI and IX are selected through a selection test conducted by the CBSE, those in class XI enter (Lateral entry) on purely merit basis of academic achievements. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is a registered Society under Registration of Societies Act, 1860. The Society is an autonomous body under the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development is the Chairman and Hon’ble Minister of State of Human Resource Development (Education) is the Vice-Chairman of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986), Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) all over the country except Tamil Nadu. These are co- educational, residential schools, fully financed by ministry of HRD Government of India. Though admission to these Vidyalayas is at Class VI level, in order to optimally utilize infrastructure facilities available, vacant seats at Class IX level are filled through an All India level Selection Test.
