I feel greatly fortunate and honoured as well that I joined JNV Shahkote, Baramulla. It is certainly not a school but an Institute of social, ethical & academic learning where students are given due exposure to the ground-realities of life besides preparing them to face the future-struggle & challenges of life. Students learn co-existence, co-operation, discipline, facilitating one-another and finally becoming self-esteemed, self-confident and self-reliant simultaneously growing in a natural way. Surely, the ‘Aims and Objectives’ of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti do not emphasize only bookish and academic cramming by students. They proclaim for ‘Over-all-development’ of each and every student. Students are put to various neck-to-neck competitions, challenges, co-curricular activities, sports, Scouts and Guides, N C C, N S S activities besides being motivated for academic excellence. The Vidyalaya has been a laboratory of innovating teaching techniques since its inception. Besides this, lot many training programmes have had been enriching the teachers at this temple of education. We have been able to produce players up to National and SGFI level. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have been ranking TOP POSITION in CBSE Results in the country every year for so many years, keeping other government, recognized, private and aided schools just behind. It is the result of hard efforts of students & teachers besides guidelines issued by the Samiti from time to time. We believe that the dream of the Founder-father of the JNVs have been coming true. Excellence has been our hallmark since the inception of the school. And, this is true because our students have been excelling in all the fields. JNV is now a Brand and JNV Baramulla is a prestigious and famous brand in kashmir. JNV Alumni is ‘a different product’ in work, conduct, presentation, devotion, dedication and service to the Nation. Lot lot many Navodians have been serving at higher positions in every field in the country and abroad, too. The Alumni of this Vidyalaya has been motivating the present students who are the future citizen of our country. The Vidyalaya has been joining the local community and sharing pace setting programme with them. The parents of students, through Parent Teacher Council have been extending unflinching support to the Vidyalaya for the ultimate welfare of their wards. While facing all educational challenges and expectations of 21st Century, we all must work together for the ultimate good of our students whose future depends on our efforts to give them appropriate skills and knowledge to make this world a better, happier and more peaceful place.
