The Navodaya Leadership Institute (NLI), Chandigarh established in 2001 and presently functioning in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Campus Chandigarh.

Effective training is an investment in the human resources of an organisation with both immediate and long range return. It is a learning process that involves the acquisition of knowledge, sharpening of skills, modifying attitudes and behaviours to enhance the performance of the employees.

FROM THE DESK OF THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

In all communities all around the world we can sense the keen desire to find, secure or appoint teachers who can competently guide our children in the course of   their  progress towards maturity, as growing person they need help in learning to adjust  with themselves, with other people and to the changing circumstances.

The CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Policy is guided by the important  principles. Like most other professionals, teachers are responsible for their own professional growth through lifelong learning, Teachers have a responsibility to participate in CPD in order to refresh, enrich and broaden their professional knowledge, skills and experience for the benefit of students. Teachers’ CPD caters to personal as well as schools’ developmental needs. The CPD programme can be successfully realized only when all teachers are engaged in effective professional development. The new curriculum and the recent reforms in assessment of students’ performance are capable of responding to individual needs and to be tailed by individual school communities. This opens up several opportunities for CPD in schools outside formal and structured programmes.

Induction Courses, Orientation courses, refresher courses and workshops are conducted at NLI using latest methodologies and techniques to hone the skills and enhance the professional development of staff the NVS. Academicians   and technical experts from the renowned Institutes (e.g. NCERT, IIMs, ISTM, IIPA, XIM, Panjab University, TTTI, IHM, MGIPA, PGIMER and HIPA etc) educate the trainees and deliver their best. The internal faculty of the NVS, too, showers knowledge for practical and useful functioning at field level. Training is imparted through interactive method by involving one and all so that the trainees utilize the knowledge gained as such in their respective work places.
