The recent concern for education based on the abilities, needs and interest of an individual is the primary responsibility of every society and nation as a whole. When we talk all-round development of child it must be aimed at the physical, mental and moral development of child, in order to produce useful citizens of the society. A well planed curriculum is planed for co-curricular and sports activities will be instrumental in providing training the students in good way and to make them a good citizen of tomorrow.

Co-curricular activities are important features of all good schools as they provide ample scope for implementing a variety of activities which may not be directly related to co-curricular activities. 

Importance of Co-Curricular Activities

A few years back co-curricular activities were named as extra curricular activities. It was taken as a hindrance in curricular activities. The new education policy replaced  3 R’s (Reading, writing and Arithmetic) to 4 H (Head, Hand, Heart and Health) and further to all round development of the child. These activities develop and strengthen the following qualities in a child.

• Sense of dignity of labor.
• Self reliance and confidence.
• Sense of responsibility.
• Sincerity, honesty and devotion.
• Initiative- Child initiates action on his own.
• Perseverance –Does not stop work when faced by difficulties, completes job in time.
• Punctuality & regularity.
• Spirit of Social Service.
• Discipline- Abides by the decision & controls him.
• Develops the tendency of co-operation.
• Sympathy & follow feelings for all.
• Tolerance- Tolerates the view points of others.
• Concern for Environment, keeps his surroundings clean.
• Develop the quality of leader ship.
• Develops the moral values & belongingness.
