To establish, support, maintain, control and manage schools (hereinafter called Navodaya Vidyalayas) and to do all such acts and things as may be necessary for the promotion of such schools which shall have the following objectives:

To provide good quality modern education to gifted children mainly from rural areas regardless of the socio-economic status of their family – which includes a strong component of a culture of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education .

To provide facilities at the appropriate level for education throughout the country through a common medium i.e. Hindi and English.

Offer a common core curriculum to ensure comparability in standards and to facilitate and understand the common and holistic heritage of our people.

To progressively bring students from one part of the country to another in each school to promote national integration and enrich the social content.

To act as a focal point for improving the quality of school education by training and sharing experiences and facilities in the living conditions of teachers.

To establish, develop, maintain and manage hostels for the accommodation of the students of Navodaya Vidyalayas.

To assist, establish and operate in any part of India such other institutions as may be necessary for the furtherance of the objects of the Society.

To do all things necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the aims of the society.
